AMANKORA PARO – 5* (2NIGHTS)

 

There are six dwellings with four suites each, two on the ground floor and two on the upper floor. The 24 suites are similar in design featuring natural rammed-earth walls, gently sloping roofs and wood-panelled interiors with a king-size bed, a traditional bukhari (wood-burning stove) and a large terrazzo-clad bath.

 

 

AMANKORA THIMPHU – 5* (1 NIGHT)

 

Two dwellings house a total of 16 suites, featuring a combined living and bedroom that includes a king-size bed, a reading chair and a window banquette providing views across a landscaped courtyard or directly onto the nearby stream and pine forest. Room interiors feature combined wood panel and chocolate brown walls. The traditional bukhari is positioned between the bedroom and the bathroom. The spacious bathroom opens from the bedroom and provides a terrazzo-clad bath that enjoys a view through a vertical slot window. A shower, toilet and twin vanities and hanging space complete the bathroom. The suites are individually heated during the cold winter months.

 

 

AMANKORA PUNAKHA – 5* (1 NIGHT)

 

Eight suites, located in three rammed-earth dwellings, are situated in an orange orchard with views across the rice fields and back up the Punakha Valley. The suites are identical to the design of the suites at Amankora Paro, featuring wood panelled interiors, a traditional bukhari, king-size bed, terrazzo-clad bath, shower and vanities, and day bed. Suites are individually heated during the cooler winter months and air-conditioned in the summer months.

 

Note: Extra night can allowed only in be taken at amankora paro includes fullboard before or after the tour.

Tour Itinerary:

 

DAY 1 - PARO

Arrival in Bhutan with a scenic view as the plane weaves though the valley before landing at Paro Airport, you’ll then make a short journey to Amankora Paro, a 23-Suite Lodge nestled within a beautiful pine forest. The spa here offers a range of unique healing and rejuvenating treatments.

After lunch in the afternoon you’ll be free to explore the nearby ruins and visit some of the valley’s oldest and holiest religious monuments, or you can ramble down to Paro’s main street to shop for souvenirs before retuning for dinner.

DAY 2 - PARO-THIMPHU

After breakfast at the hotel, you’ll journey to Bhutan’s capital Thimphu to discover its many attractions. Upon arrival you will have a choice to enjoy the festivities of the Thimphu Festival or visit the National Textile Museum. There’s also the Folk Heritage Museum and the splendid ‘Kora’ Memorial. Afterwards it’s a short drive to the BBS Tower which affords majestic views over the Thimphu Valley.

You will spend the night at the luxurious Amankora Thimphu, a 16-Suite lodge located in a steep valley at an altitude of more then 7700 feet,

DAY 3 - THIMPHU-PUNAKHA

An early departure takes you on a drive along the dramatic mountain pass of Dochu La, following the course of the Paro Chue and Wang Chu rivers. En route you will see a host of wonderful sights including one of Bhutan’s oldest fortress monasteries, the 17th Century Simtokha Dzong, and ancient wall paintings at the Hongtsho Goemba Monastery.

The journey continues along the pass, from which on a clear day, the towing Himalayan peaks are visible. The slow descent into Punakha Valley along the Kingdom’s only east-west highway you will reach Amankora Punakha, an 8-Suite lodge and royal farmhouse set among paddy fields and fruit plantations and accessed via a suspension bridge over the Mo Chu river. Depending on your preference, you will have the option to visit the Punakha Dzong either before or after arriving at the Amankora Punakha.

DAY 4 - PUNAKHA-PARO

The finial leg of your mountain odyssey is a five-hour drive back to Amankorn Prao valley, where you can spend the rest of the day at leisure.

After breakfast at the hotel, you will be escorted back to the airport for you onward flight KB120 that departs approximant at 11:00am
