Although geographical located in the northeast, Loei has many things in common with the northern region with numerous high hills and mountains, wintry and foggy climate. It is the only province in Thailand which has the dubicous destination of the mercury plummenting to zero Celcius.
Loei is 520 kilometers from Bangkok on the Bangkok and administratively divided into 12 districts (Amphoes) : Muang, Chiang Khan,Dan Sai, Na Duang, Na Haeo, Pak Chom, Pha Khao, Phu Kradung, Phu Luang, Phu Rua,Tha Li, and Wang Saphung.

Phra That Si Song Rak
Located on the bank of Man River about one kilometer away from Amphoe Dan Sai. Constructed in 1560, it commemorates the mutual cooperation between Krung Sri Ayutthaya and Krung Sri Satana Kanahut (Vientiane). The structureis about 30 meters high and it annual celebrations are attended by thousands of people.
Phra That Satcha
Located in the area of Wat Lat Pu, Ban Tha Li. on the Highway 201, turn left at the junction to the Highway 2115 Tha Li - Ahi route. The Wat is 2 kilometers from Amphoe Tha Li Administrative Office. the architectural structure of Phra That Satcha consists of the blossomed lotuses with 3 layered petals, one meter high sprung around pagoda. The Phra That, similar in style to Phra That Phanom, is 33 meters high and topped with the white 7 tiered umbrella of sovereignty.
Wat Sri Khun Muang
Located on the north of the Chiang Khan market wall made of grassy materials. The main chapel is shaped for like those found in the north. The wall murals depict a religious legend.

Kaeng Khut Khu
rapid on the middle of the Maekhong River at Amphoe Chiang Khan creates a narrow but extremely swift current. Immersed in and smoothed by the rushing water for countless years, the rocks produce multi-colored scenes of unique beauty.
Phu Luang Wildlife Sanctuary
Located on high plateau with an elevation of 1,550 meters. The areaof Phu Luang covered several Amphoes, Wang Saphung, Phu Rua, Dan Sai and Phu Luang. Phu Luang forest is a blend forest of tropical and colder mate forest. Wild animals are abundant.
Points of interest are walking trail along the forest passing pine trees, grass fields, wild orchids and other wild-flowers, cliffs, view points, etc.

Cotton Blossom (Dok Fai Ban)

Dok Fai (Cotton blossom) grows rapidly in Februrary with the Februrary festival in Kut Pong Park.
Phi Ta Khon Festival
June or July - Amphoe DanSai
The festival has its origin in a traditional Buddhist tale. When Prince Vessandorn, the Buddha's penultimate incarnation, returned to his city, the welcoming procession was so delightful that spirits emerged to celebrate. Phi Ta Khon is celebrated largely by young men who dress as spirits to parade a sacred Buddha image and tease villagers, and monks reciting the story of the Buddha's last great incarnation before attaining Enlightenment.
The Phu Rua Cold Climate and Plant Fair

During the cold season, Loei is a very charming place, not only because of the weather but because many beautiful flowers and trees are in bloom. Many tourists visit Loei to admire the floral beauty at this time of the year.
